JP Potters was raised in Ontario and from an early age, developed a curiosity for fine wine and culinary arts. He pursued studies in Philosophy and Political Science at the University of Toronto before embarking on a distinguished 20-year career in the luxury restaurant and private members club industry. JP has excelled as a sommelier, general manager, and award-winning front-of-house operator, specializing in the culinary traditions of Europe and North America. His expertise was further enriched during five immersive years in Australia's diverse wine industry, collaborating closely with top chefs in leading restaurants across the country.
JP's journey has included significant roles, notably as the driving force behind the multi-award-winning Boulevard Kitchen and Oyster Bar in Vancouver. His extensive travels through prestigious European wine regions such as Piedmont, Tuscany, Burgundy, Bordeaux, Champagne, and the Loire Valley have deepened his understanding, particularly in the nuances of Burgundy and Bordeaux wines. JP's passion lies in exploring the intersection of history, science, and anthropology found in the world's finest wines, viewing each bottle as a unique narrative woven into the fabric of human experience.
Now joining Irongate Wine, JP eagerly anticipates sharing his wealth of knowledge and passion for exceptional wines with collectors. He is committed to unveiling the compelling stories behind each bottle and celebrating their distinctive expressions of terroir and cultural heritage. For JP, wine embodies a fusion of beauty, history, and communal experience—a journey of sensory delight best enjoyed in the company of others, fostering connections and enriching lives.
