March 1, 2011: Iron Gate Private Wine Management ran Ontario’s first private wine auction, selling the collection of the estate of Ian Grant.

Every lot sold, the auction achieved 125% of the high appraised value, and it drew a standing-room-only crowd at the Spoke Club in Toronto.

It was an early step for Iron Gate’s auction business. Ten years later, in 2021, Iron Gate launched Canada’s first national online fine wine auction.
