Auction news includes highlights from the Zachy’s wine auction which featured classic 1961 Brodeaux lots of Chateau Latour and La Mission Haut-Brion; and Hart Davis Hart’s auction in September featuring a wine consignment of La Fleur-Petrus, Le Pin, La Mission, and Haut-Brion.

Live-ex Fine Wine Index saw positive growth through the year with four record high months to finish the year. October year over year saw strong increases from 2012 Petit Mouiton, 2007 DRC Richebourg, 2012 Clarence Haut-Brion, 201 Petit Mouton, and 1999 Salon Mesnil. The most traded over 2016 according to Live-Ex was the 2010 Lafite Rothschild.

Maureen Downey of winefraud.com, Chai Consulting, and the documentary Sour Grapes joined Warren Porter to discuss wine fraud and learning the trade of authentication, how technology is helping fraudsters, when clients hire her, and the top 5 counterfeit wines; Petrus, DRC, Lafite, 1945 Mouton and Henri Jayer.

Rhone Valley’s Jaboulet Aine, Hermitage La Chapelle 1961 topped the auction market to become the most expensive sold at auction.
