The banded case contains a selection from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti including; La Tâche, Grands Échezeaux, Romanée-Saint-Vivant, Échezeaux, Richebourg, and the 2000 DRC Romanée-Conti. These rare wines from Burgundy are of exceptional provenance.
Okay, I am unbanding this very rare case of vintage 2000 assortment from Domaine de la Romanée-Conti. This case is estimated value of about sixty thousand US dollars and while it’s sold as an entire case it’s important that we check the wines inside beforehand. Some guys think that it’s good to have it banded but you don’t know if a cork has been leaking or something else.
So, we’re going to pop this guy open to make sure it’s good and that all the wines are good. Because certainly at that price point you want to have only the most perfect wine.
So, this has never been opened before since it left DRC. Oh my, look at this. It still has the old straw. They don’t do it anymore, now they put it in this paper. They used to do this old straw for packaging. Isn’t this cool?
Ok so that’s beautiful. So, 2000 we’ve got one Grands Échezeaux. Perfect condition.
We have an Echezeaux. Fills are prefect, corks are perfect.
Another Grands Échezeaux. All the fills are great. Nothing to suggest that there was been any leaking.
Another Grands Échezeaux.
Another Romanée-Saint-Vivant. The assortment pack changes up a little bit every year, so you get one of each and then, or a couple of each, and then one of the Romanée-Conti.
So, we’ve got a La Tâche. These are really, really great. Again, these have never been handled.
Another La Tâche.
A third La Tâche. Three La Tâche in this case.
The granddaddy of the case, the 2000 DRC Romanée-Conti That one’s probably close to 15,000 dollars on its own, that one bottle.
And last but not least another 2000 Richebourg.
So, these are all perfect and this is now on its way to Hong Kong
